Five Easy Tips for Getting More LinkedIn Profile Views
LinkedIn is one of the first places job seekers go to when they are looking for a job. But did you know that there are many things that you can do to improve your chances of getting noticed on LinkedIn? Even if you are not on the job market having a more visible profile on LinkedIn can improve your career prospects. Here are five tips for ranking higher (being at the top of search results) and getting more profile views.
Optimize Your Keywords. Keywords are one of the keys (no pun intended) to your success of getting found on LinkedIn. Make sure you strategically place keywords that a target recruiter may be searching for such as “Sales Manager” or "eCommerce" in the headline, summary and experience sections of your profile. If appropriate also place keywords in your job titles. This will help LinkedIn’s search algorithm to find you. Not sure what key words to focus on? A job posting that you are interested in is a great source.
Complete Your Profile. Profiles that are complete rank higher. Do not forget to include a professional photo as well. People who have a photo of themselves in their profile receive 21 times more profile views and nine times more connection requests than those without. You can tell if you have a complete profile if it says ALL-STAR profile on the homepage of your LinkedIn app.
Leverage Your Skills. Put relevant keywords in the skills section of your profile. According to LinkedIn, users with at least five skills are discovered up to 27 more times in searches conducted by recruiters. Having endorsements for those skills also improves your ranking in search results.
Add Connections. LinkedIn’s search results prioritize first and second degree connections over third degree connections and everyone else. The smaller the number of people that you are connected to the less likely you will be a first or second degree connection of the searcher and the more difficult it is to be found.
Distribute Content. Actively publish, share, like and comment…after all it is a social network.
